Our Latest Technology
With the perfect blend of innovative and well-tested technology, our practice can help you achieve your best smile.
At Wynn Orthodontics, we prefer a mix of the latest technologies and tried-and-true strategies to meet our patients' specific smile needs. Having been in the orthodontic world for over 30 years, Dr. Wynn has seen the massive leaps and bounds this field has made over the years. From early treatment to innovative braces alternatives, he has stayed updated on the latest technology advancements to give his patients the best treatments for their unique smiles. He's also not afraid to use more traditional methods that he knows work just as well and more affordably. However, Dr. Wynn often puts his own twist into the technology to achieve the best results.
Exam Technology
Other offices like to boast about having your treatment plan ready on the same day as your consultation. But at Wynn Orthodontics, we take the time to perform a detailed and comprehensive exam of your smile. We want to ensure our patients always receive the best treatment and results possible. That requires thorough and careful attention. In this first visit, we want to be certain that you're an excellent fit for orthodontics before planning your upcoming treatment. Our exam technologies ensure our team doesn't miss a detail,
no matter how small, that could impact your treatment. We collaborate with a fantastic local lab that stays up-to-date with the best and latest imaging technologies. Panorex X-rays, head film, and more allow us to get a complete view of your smile and map out the problems and developments to expect during treatment. Dr. Wynn also creates his own traditional impressions and 3D molds of your mouth in the office to give him a more hands-on look at your smile's structure. We make sure nothing is left up to chance when it comes to your smile.
Early Treatment Technology
Some of our young patients need treatment before braces. Each developing smile has different needs. Along with partial braces, our office offers multiple early devices to make the process smooth and comfortable:
Maxillary Palatal Expander
Some of our young patients don't have enough space for all of their permanent teeth to come in. In these cases, palatal expanders can safely and quickly widen the upper jaw to give braces more room to work. While a young patient is still growing, the palate's two maxillary bones haven't yet fused. By applying a gentle but consistent force to keep them apart, we can naturally widen the palate to a healthier size.
Headgear
While some may find it "old school," headgear can be effective with severe overbites. This headgear treatment stunts the upper jaw's growth so the mandible can catch up.
Retainer
When baby teeth are lost prematurely or another early treatment is needed, a retainer keeps everything in place until your child is ready for braces. However, our office also offers a type of "active" retainer that uses a gentle force to make slight adjustments to your child's teeth before they start braces.
Braces and Aligner Technology

Bracket Braces
With braces, we work with a bracket manufacturer to create a unique and customized bracket for our patients while using high-quality porcelain and stainless steel. These medium-sized brackets maximize effectiveness and comfort to give our patients the best experience possible. With clear braces, porcelain brackets have also come a long way in the last five years alone. Our manufacturer has perfected them to be just as efficient as stainless steel brackets.

Invisalign
Dr. Wynn and his team have also been using Invisalign, the #1 recommended clear aligners, for more than 20 years. Invisalign gives patients an invisible teeth-straightening experience. By replacing brackets and wires with transparent plastic trays, aligners quickly correct most mild to moderate and some severe orthodontic issues. Before beginning, we always ensure our patients are a great fit for this fantastic braces alternative.

Sleep Apnea Devices
Dr. Wynn and his team use their orthodontic expertise to help patients with sleep apnea. Breathing problems during sleep are often caused by the jaw falling into the wrong position. The airway becomes closed or obstructed, leading to snoring and frequent disruptions during sleep throughout the night. Our incredible staff can design and craft a personalized snoring and sleep apnea appliance that shifts the mandible forward and makes it easier to breathe during sleep. These appliances are so effective that many Newport Beach dentists refer their patients to us!
